Director's Note
The town of Eldritch, and it's population of dreamers, outcasts, and
hypocrites is a mysterious, dramatic fiction. Just as Lanford Wilson
created the fictional town, the citizensof Eldritch fabricate their own
reality of lies, rumors and secrets. The town they imagine for
themselves and their children is not the town they actually live in.
This play is a collage, or perhaps a montage, of moments and events in
the life of a small-town community slowly dying. It tells the story of
Eldritch in bits and pieces, jumping back and forth through time and
space, creating unexpected tensions and unsettling impressions. Keep
your eyes open, and the mystery will become clear-- but you'll have to
put together the pieces...
Quotes
...you've accomplished beautiful things during this process! I
especially appreciate your flexibility, good humor, and committment to
making the ephemeral world of this play concrete. Thanks so much!
